Leith Hamilton

Leith Hamilton is engaged as a consultant, researcher, and trainer to promote university-Black community partnerships to address systemic discrimination facing Black families in Youth Protection. After a career working in social services, Leith transitioned to working as a community organizer in minority communities to improve outcomes in Youth Protection.
With funding from Shift Center for Social Transformation, Concordia University, Leith has engaged key stakeholders from within and external to the Black community to explore why change has been so difficult, given that disparities facing Black families has long been acknowledged as an example of systemic discrimination. He provides a leadership role in supporting former clients of Youth Protection in the court approved Class Action vs. Youth Protection.
His most recent work focuses on engagement of key stakeholders within and external to the Black community to promote a made in the Black community differential response in child welfare
