Nicolas Berthelot

Nicolas Berthelot, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and Full Professor in mental health at the Department of Nursing of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR). He holds a Canada Research Chair in developmental trauma. His program of research focuses on the developmental mechanisms of risk, resilience, and psychopathology in the context of childhood trauma and on the intergenerational impacts of child maltreatment. Dr. Berthelot collaborates with colleagues from different disciplines in the conception, implementation, and evaluation of preventive and clinical interventions with survivors of child abuse or neglect in order to prevent and mitigate psychological and physical health problems in this population. He leads the project STEP (Supporting the Transition to and Engagement in Parenthood), a longitudinal and clinical research aiming to understand and interrupt the intergenerational risk trajectories associated with developmental trauma.
