Collectif Ex-Placé DPJ
Founded in 2022, with the help of the community, the Collectif Ex-Placé DPJ was initiated by former youth in care. Its aim is to meet the needs of young people who are or have been under the care of youth protection agencies. It helps young people aged 14 to 35 in and out of care to speak out and get involved, by offering a range of prevention, education, support and accompaniment activities. The mission of the Collectif Ex-Placé DPJ is to 1) contribute to the improvement of services for young people placed and formerly placed by youth protection, 2) publicize and highlight the critical issues faced by DPJ children and young people from Quebec's youth centers, 3) promote the development of individual and community empowerment in order to actively contribute to the improvement of public policies, programs and services offered to young people and their families, 4) build bridges between community environments, public institutions and civic spaces to ensure the participation and well-being of those primarily concerned, and 5) promote exchanges and mutual aid between peers. It also offers support and guidance to young people in their transition to adulthood.
